Used to express frustration, disappointment, annoyance by something or situation, some even use it when they are surprised.

“Eish I’m late for work again.”

    Yoh, i dont think most dictionaries have done justice to the word Eish because people from other countries looked at the dictionary and think that the word is a negative word. I mostly use the word to agree with someone and also to exclaim about something eg. Eish, it is cold. I believe this word is a scam’tho/ tsotsitaal as it is a word from Soweto.So eish jaa now I can’t use the word going forward because at church they think it is a negative word.
